Chesapeake Bay Beaches
The Chesapeake Bay beaches are the northern-most beaches of the area found off of Shore Drive. The Chesapeake Bay offers calmer and gentler waters than the Atlantic Ocean. Its tranquil and serene setting boasts clear, shallow waters that extend quite a distance out making it the perfect place for the kids to play and have fun in the water. There is no lifeguard patrol service in this area. The locals love this beach and commonly refer to it as Chix Beach.
Take full advantage of the water since it's a great place for swimmers, boats, jet-skis, and kayaks or enjoy the scenic shoreline with some skimboarding or sandcastle building. Take a stroll around the marina, enjoy fine dining in area restaurants, and catch sunsets over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. Also, leave time for First Landing State Park and the Cape Henry Lighthouse. It's a great spot to spend your Virginia vacation!
