Virginia Beach Travel Tips

From Croatan to the Chesapeake Bay, the beaches of Virginia Beach offer guests a choice of first-rate options for their vacation. All of our Virginia Beach vacation rentals are located near one of these beautiful beaches, making it easy for you to find a beach condo or rental home that will make your vacation with us a special one.

Croatan Beach

Croatan beach is just under a mile long and stretches from Rudee Inlet to Camp Pendleton. Croatan is a residential beach community nestled next to the Atlantic Ocean, just south of the Virginia Beach Resort Area.

This beach is a surfer's favorite so if you're ready to ride the waves this is the place for you! Surfers are restricted to a designated area though, so don't worry about swimming space, there is room for everyone!

The limited street parking goes fast, but the neighborhood has a parking lot available for a reasonable daily rate. There are lifeguards posted on every other street, but there are no public restrooms or shops within walking distance so if you plan to spend the day make sure to bring drinks and snacks along.

The Resort Area Beaches

The Resort Area beach is by far the most popular of our beaches. Three miles of sandy beach welcome thousands of guests each summer. Lifeguards are posted at each block and chair and umbrella rentals are available in several locations. Averaging 300 feet wide, you'll find that even during the busiest weeks of summer you'll still be able to find space to set up your spot and enjoy the sun and surf.

The Resort Area beach also offers the most additional activities and entertainment, most in walking distance along our amazing boardwalk, which is 28 feet wide and has a separate bike path. Vacationers will also find a variety of great restaurants and shops along the boardwalk and no trip to the Virginia Beach Resort Area would be complete without stopping by to visit King Neptune!

Metered parking is available on most streets along with several parking garages that offer both hourly and daily rates.

North End Beach

The North End beach is the most "all natural" of our beaches and another locals' favorite. Extra wide and lined by sand dunes, the North End is where you are most likely to see sand crabs and other wildlife during your trip to the beach. This beach doesn't get as crowded as the Resort Area so there is usually plenty of on street parking.

No lifeguards or other amenities are available within walking distance though so plan to bring everything you'll need for a day at the beach. Surfing is only allowed at certain times of the day in this area so you're free to swim with no worries. There are beach access points at every block which makes getting to the beach a breeze.

Chesapeake Bay Beaches

The Chesapeake Bay beaches are perfect for vacationers that are looking for calmer more manageable waves along with families that enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking and the many other water sports offered in the area.

With access off of each street along Shore Drive or from the beautiful First Landing State Park, these beaches offer several spots to lay your towel and watch the ships go by as they head for the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

The area features several local restaurants so you can get your fresh seafood fix while you're here too! The Chesapeake Bay is also the best place to relax and watch the gorgeous Virginia Beach sunset.
